The Marine Corps is interested in developing a large, unmanned aircraft to autonomously deliver heavy cargo, according to a June 4 request for information seeking industry sources capable of rapidly prototyping, testing and fielding such a system.
Naval Air Systems Command is considering awarding an other transaction agreement to begin prototyping this Unmanned Logistics Systems -- Air (ULS-A) in fiscal year 2026, the notice states.
The desired solution will be capable of carrying a minimum payload of 1,300 pounds with a minimum travel radius of 100 nautical miles.
The system should be able to take off, land and drop its payload autonomously in “small, confined areas” and navigate with 10-meter accuracy, the notice continues.
The ULS-A system must also be transportable aboard a C-130 Hercules aircraft and operate from aviation-capable ships in austere environments and various weather conditions.
Responses to the RFI are due on June 24.
