Pentagon Shuffles MRAP Funding to Provide More for Upgrades

The Pentagon is reprogramming unused Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle procurement and operations and maintenance funding to resource upgrades on existing vehicles. According to a Sept. 18 reprogramming action, the Defense Department is transferring back $376 million of fiscal year 2008 unobligated balances from various procurement and operation and maintenance appropriations to the MRAP vehicle fund. Those unobligated balances "include MRAP supplemental funding," the document adds. At the same time, the Pentagon plans to direct $776 million from the MRAP...
