Missile Defense Agency Proposes New Space-Based Tracking System

The Missile Defense Agency is proposing the establishment of a new space-based, missile-launch-tracking system as a follow-on to the experimental, dual-satellite Space Tracking and Surveillance System, according to recent budget documents. The new effort, named the Precision Tracking Space System, would consist of "prototype satellites, command and control, and ground stations," MDA's fiscal year 2011 budget overview states.
