Management Faulted At Northrop Shipyard That Builds Carriers, Subs

The Northrop Grumman shipyard that builds all U.S. aircraft carriers and co-produces every new American submarine is suffering from management problems, according to a previously undisclosed Pentagon assessment. The "focused review" of the yard in Newport News, VA, conducted five months ago without fanfare by the Defense Contract Management Agency, discovered the shipyard's key business system is "noncompliant in several areas," agency spokeswoman Debra Bingham told Inside the Pentagon .
