Raytheon Exec: SM-3 Block IB Missile Will Undergo Three Tests This Year

The Navy will conduct three flight tests later this year with the Standard Missile-3 Block IB missile despite a recent failure, according to John Rood, vice president of business development for Raytheon. In a test last March, an SM-3 Block IB interceptor fired from an Aegis BMD 4.01 ship failed to intercept its target. This was the first developmental firing mission with the Aegis BMD 4.01 system.
