Air Force Gives Sierra Nevada The Green Light On Afghan Aircraft Build

The Air Force today announced it has authorized Sierra Nevada Corp. to build 20 light-attack aircraft for the Afghan military despite an ongoing bid protest from the losing contractor. Beechcraft Corp. filed the bid protest with the Government Accountability Office last week. The Air Force issued a stop-work order on Monday, but has since changed its tune, notifying both GAO and Sierra Nevada today that the service intended to proceed with construction of the planes, according to Air Force spokeswoman...
