Air Force releases competitive GPS III launch services RFP

The Air Force has released a solicitation for what it hopes will be a competitive effort to choose a launch vehicle for the third next-generation GPS satellite. The request for proposals, issued Aug. 3, is the service's second attempt at driving competition into its Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle-class missions now that newcomer SpaceX and its Falcon 9 rocket are certified to fly military payloads.
