Air Force weighing decision on B-2 test jet for extensive system modernization

As the Air Force approaches the most extensive modernization effort its small B-2 bomber fleet will likely ever undergo, the task of identifying a test aircraft has proven more difficult than expected. The $2.7 billion B-2 Defensive Management System Modernization program, led by aircraft manufacturer Northrop Grumman, is designed to address obsolescence issues to keep the stealthy bomber flying to 2058.
