Ligado begins developing required GPS safeguards in preparation for controversial network deployment

Ligado Networks is developing safeguards required to ensure its proposed network won't interfere with the Global Positioning System and other operations, but federal agencies are refusing to work with the company, Ligado told the Federal Communications Commission today. In a status report filed with the FCC , Ligado said it has "begun implementing the various operational safeguards" required by the commission's April order allowing it to move forward with what the firm describes as "next-generation 5G services" in 30 megahertz...
