OMB lays out new data center consolidation framework

In an aim to continue the federal government's data center consolidation efforts, the White House Office of Management and Budget is requiring all agencies, including the Defense Department, to review their data center inventories within the next month as the federal chief information officer prepares individual cost goals for each agency, according to a new memo sent out to all executive branch agency and department heads.
