DOD eyeing consolidation of contractor-heavy cyber operation groups

The Defense Department will review the 23 cybersecurity service providers authorized to conduct operations for the Pentagon, seeking opportunities for potential consolidation, according to a new government watchdog report. “Since there are 23 DOD CSSPs . . . conducting cyberspace operations across the department . . . there may be potential areas of overlap between them and opportunities for cost saving by consolidating some functions and activities,” the Government Accountability Office's report states.
