Pentagon investigates 'ghost' soldiers in Afghan military

The Pentagon is engaged in five separate efforts to better account for Afghan defense and security forces to prevent “ghost” soldiers and police officers being falsely claimed on payrolls, according to a letter the Defense Department sent to the government's top watchdog for Afghanistan reconstruction.
