Nuke-tipped SLCM could be deployed on surface ships, potentially DDG-1000s

The Pentagon is considering deploying a new nuclear-tipped, sea-launched cruise missile on surface ships such as the Zumwalt-class destroyers as well as submarines, according to the head of U.S. Strategic Command. Air Force Gen. John Hyten said the Defense Department's fiscal year 2019 budget request includes tasking to look at platforms for carrying the new weapon.
