Here are a few must-reads from this week's edition of Inside the Pentagon:

1. As the Obama administration winds down, Deputy Defense Secretary Bob Work went before a large gathering of Army officials for potentially the last time to explain his vision of the joint force and encourage them to work to realize it.

2. A top Pentagon research official said this week the Defense Department is seeking to ensure it has a full pipeline of research ranging from "blue skies" efforts to work that can soon transition into use.

3. U.S. Cyber Command is working with the Defense Innovation Unit Experimental outposts through its Point of Partnership team established in June 2015 to help find "cutting-edge defensive cyber operations" capabilities, according to command spokesman Joseph Holstead.
