Some must-reads from this week's issue of Inside the Air Force:

1. As the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency awards early contracts for a satellite architecture demonstration program that could change the way the Defense Department approaches resiliency in space, the agency is working closely with the Air Force and other Pentagon stakeholders to make sure a plan is in place to transition to a formal program once the concept is proven.

2. Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Jim Inhofe (R-OK) has an ambitious list of priorities all built around a central line of effort -- increasing the defense budget, despite newly empowered Democrats and a White House looking for spending cuts to offset skyrocketing deficits.

3. Pentagon spending on electronic-warfare research and development is projected to exceed $5 billion in fiscal year 2019 and to remain above $4 billion through FY-23, as the military continues to assess what technologies it needs to control the electromagnetic spectrum.

4. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FL -- A small-business cybersecurity group funded under an Air Force contract has decided that forming an information-sharing and analysis organization, or ISAO, is crucial to its mission in developing cost-effective measures for defending against cyberattacks, a recommendation that is expected to be offered as a model for firms across the country.
