Some must-reads from this week's issue of Inside the Air Force:

1. The Director of Operational Test and Evaluation is working with the F-35's joint test team to determine if some test events can be conducted prior to the official start of operational testing in order to mitigate projected delays.

2. As the Air Force considers options for developing lower cost, attritable unmanned aerial vehicles, the service is also tapping industry to develop more expendable sensors that still provide key intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.

3. The F-35 joint program office is taking recommendations from a Red Team convened last spring to address stability issues in Block 3i software and applying them in order to reduce the time it takes to fix bugs in the next software iteration, Block 3F.
