Proposed Navy shipbuilding plan adds 23 ships in five years

The Navy recently sent Defense Secretary Jim Mattis an accelerated shipbuilding plan that would build an additional 23 ships, at a cost of $61.8 billion, over the future years defense plan beginning in fiscal year 2017, according to a white paper obtained by Inside Defense.

DCAA says it's made progress on backlog, but industry groups call for change

The director of the Defense Contract Audit Agency on April 6 contended the organization has made significant progress on its incurred cost backlog, but said the agency is suffering under the government hiring freeze.
