A recent Government Accountability Office report looks at SM-3 Block IIA cost growth:

SM-3 Block IIA cost growth approaching 60 percent, shipping costs from Japan blamed

The Standard Missile-3 Block IIA developed by Raytheon and Mitsubishi is suffering severe cost growth, with the price tag for the new weapon ballooning nearly 60 percent over the last three years, an escalation that would force a traditional Pentagon big-ticket weapon system program to face summary termination.

Related GAO report coverage, in case you missed it:

GAO: True cost of GMD program $67 billion and counting, 63 percent higher than MDA estimate

GAO's missile defense audit flags MDA use of undefinitized contracts, limits of computer models

The Missile Defense Agency produced "mixed progress" in delivery and testing goals in 2017, according to a congressional audit that also found U.S. military commanders who rely on the Ballistic Missile Defense System do not have "full insight" into capabilities the agency provides to warfighters, including potential shortcomings.

GAO: MDA balks at Army request for additional $10B to meet THAAD requirement

The Missile Defense Agency's program of record for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system is $10 billion short of what the Army says it needs to defend troops around the world, a sore point that foiled negotiations last year between MDA and the Army over transferring responsibility for THAAD to the service.
