Mattis heading to Camp David to meet with Trump

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis is scheduled to meet with President Trump at Camp David this weekend to discuss national security issues, according to the White House.

Mattis will be joining congressional leaders and other cabinet members for a "a small-group discussion" on 2018 legislative priorities, according to a press pool report quoting Lindsay Walters, a White House spokeswoman.

"These priorities will include: ensuring continued economic growth, national security, promoting responsible immigration reform, funding our troops, rebuilding our nation's crumbling infrastructure, the FY19 budget, welfare reform, the opioid crisis, healthcare, the 2018 elections and confirming the president's qualified nominees," Walters said.

The Camp David meeting comes as lawmakers continue to negotiate over fiscal year 2018 spending levels.
