The Pentagon on April 28 announced it was awarding Lockheed Martin a $1.37 billion advance acquisition contract for 130 Joint Strike Fighter aircraft.

The funds will be used for long-lead time materials, parts and components for Lot 12. This includes jets for the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and foreign military sales customers, according to a Defense Department contract announcement.

Additionally, the contract provides long-lead time materials, parts, components and effort for 110 Lot 13 and 14 jets.

The work is anticipated to wrap up in December 2018. The funds are from fiscal year 2017 Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps procurement accounts.
