Trump to meet with Boeing CEO

President-elect Donald Trump is set to meet today with Dennis Muilenburg, Boeing's chief executive, the transition team confirmed.

The two met in late December to discuss the Air Force One program, which Trump had criticized on Twitter. Early in December, he called its costs "out of control" and suggested canceling the order.

But after the December meeting, Muilenburg said Boeing would achieve the program for less than the $4 billion Trump had estimated it would cost.

"We're committed to working together to make sure that happens," he said at the time, according to a transcript.

"I was able to give the president-elect my personal commitment on behalf of the Boeing Company," Muilenburg continued. "We're going to make sure he gets the best capability and it's done affordably."

Trump also has suggested that he's taking another look at Boeing's F-18. Last month, Trump tweeted that "[b]ased on the tremendous cost and cost overruns of the Lockheed Martin F-35, I have asked Boeing to price-out a comparable F-18 Super Hornet!"
