Northrop Grumman has rejected Boeing's offer to team up for development of the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent program.

"In our discussions to date, Northrop Grumman has expressed that they are not interested in partnering with Boeing to form a best-of-industry GBSD team," Boeing wrote in a statement to reporters. "We are increasingly concerned that the Air Force's deterrence mission and the nation's security will be deprived of the best solution -- a proven approach that leverages both companies' technical strengths and decades of [intercontinental ballistic missile] experience."

Inside Defense previously reported Boeing was pursuing an integrated team approach with Northrop that would resolve concerns that led to the former company's July decision not to bid on GBSD's prime contract.
