Lawmakers push back on USAF plan to retire 44 A-10s

House and Senate lawmakers this week questioned Air Force leadership on the service's proposal to retire 44 A-10s in fiscal year 2021, despite language in the FY-17 National Defense Authorization Act that prohibits them from doing so. The Air Force's FY-21 budget request proposes retiring the aircraft as part of a larger effort to shift about $21 billion across the future years defense program from legacy platforms to new technology investments.
