Air Force solicits engine bids for B-52 CERP

The Air Force this week released a formal solicitation for the B-52 Commercial Engine Replacement Program and plans to award a contract by June 2021. B-52 manufacturer Boeing is the prime integrator for the effort, and the service will select an engine from one of three providers: Rolls Royce, General Electric or Pratt & Whitney, which makes the B-52's current TF33 engine.
