Representatives from more than 400 companies attended a March 10 conference hosted by the Defense Information Systems Agency in preparation for a program designed to provide quality engineering and technical support, according to a March 15 release.

The pre-proposal conference for the Systems Engineering, Technology, and Innovation (SETI) program took place at DISA's headquarters at Ft. Meade, MD.

"SETI, a multi-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity engineering-focused contracting vehicle, is slated to support the engineering requirements for the entire Department of Defense for many years to come," according to the release.

The program "focuses on fostering, developing and encouraging innovation; reducing costs and timelines; and providing innovative solutions to deliver emerging capabilities and reliable and consistent services to our warfighters," the release states.

DISA seeks to award up to 10 contracts on an unrestricted basis, and as many as 20 contracts on a restricted basis. "The total contract pooled capacity" is $7.5 billion, according to a Feb. 2 presolicitation notice on the Federal Business Opportunities website.

SETI program manager Christopher Riley noted in the release that the program is "built to take on emerging projects and to solve issues that we cannot yet see."

"This contract vehicle will meet complex IT engineering requirements now and into the future," he added.
